I’ve decided to write this article because it seems as though a lot of people don’t know what mirrored furniture is. It is not a surprise, I guess, as that they are not the most common type of furniture you see when you go into your average home furniture store. Well, as the name suggests, mirrored furniture is basically furniture made of mirrors. Instead of wood, manufacturers make the furniture out of mirrors. You can also find wooden furniture onto which mirrors have been stuck. But why, I hear you cry! One of the biggest advantages is that they can be put into any room and they take on the color scheme of that room because they reflect the colors that are in there. They also look so unique and unusual and are, invariably, a great conversation piece.

They can be placed in and match any room or decorative themes, but they do go particularly well in rooms decorated in colors consisting of blues, whites and silvers. One of my favorites is a room decorated in whites. Subtly different shades of white on the walls and similar furnishings look stunning with the multiple reflections off the mirrors.

A lot of people like to take on a DIY project and make their own mirrored bedroom furniture which is a lot easier than you would think. Again, this is often done by taking wooden furniture and sticking mirrored panels to it. Personally, for a better finish I prefer to buy it ready made. That may be because my DIY skills are not up to scratch! When buying it, the biggest difficulty is finding stockists and buying it at a price comparable to normal furniture. It can tend to be rather expensive.

You have two main options – either to buy online or in a furniture store. Doing a search on eBay or Amazon will bring up lists of different types of mirrored furniture. However, you really want to see what it looks like in the flesh, so often it is better to visit a store so you can look at it from all angles and touch it and assess the quality. There is no harm in finding a model you like in a store and then going online to see if you can find it at a better price. Remember, if you do buy at a physical store, you will be saving money on shipping, which can be expensive as mirrored furniture pieces are heavy and need to be packed well to avoid breakage.

To find a stockist near to you, you will probably need to do an initial online search to look for stockists as they are not something that is sold everywhere. They are exclusive pieces of furniture and any piece of mirrored furniture you buy will be treasured for years to come.
